5G has been launched in India. The launching event occurred at IMC(India Mobile Congress ), where PM Modi inaugurated it. To highlight the potential of 5G technology in India, the three leading telecom providers in the nation—Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea—presented use cases of the technology to the Prime Minister.
The fifth generation of mobile communication networks, or 5G, is expected to provide significantly higher speeds and more application possibilities than 4G. Compared to 4G's top speed of 100 Mbps, 5G might reach 10 Gbps. The first phase of 5G will launch in thirteen cities.
These 13 cities are Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Varanasi, Chandigarh, Jamnagar, Gandhinagar, Mumbai, Pune, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Siliguri, and Gurugram. According to Airtel, 5G services will be available in several cities nationwide by March 2023 and throughout India by March 2024. Jio will cover significant cities before widening into several cities. Mukesh Ambani mentioned that the pricing of 5G will be affordable to every Indian. It is anticipated that the introduction of 5G will speed up cloud gaming, AR/VR, the Internet of Things, and other technologies. Also, there are numerous business applications for 5G. Vodafone has not provided a precise date for the introduction or availability of 5G.
