Google has introduced prepaid app subscriptions in India.

May 13, 2022
Recently, Google introduced a prepaid app subscription model in India at the Google I/O Developer conference. This model allows android app developers to generate revenue via subscriptions. According to the firm, developers will now be able to offer customers the chance to subscribe to prepaid plans, which effectively provide users access to an app and its services for a fixed duration set by the developer. The users can buy top-ups if their subscription plans expire. According to Google, the feature would be helpful in areas where pay-as-you-go cellular subscriptions are standard. Extending it to apps may help developers increase subscription revenue.
Google also unveiled new pricing options for emerging markets, including “ultra-low” prices. The basic plan of each subscription has a payment period and a kind of renewal. Google confirmed that you can create a subscription with a monthly auto-renewing plan, a yearly auto-renewing plan, and a 1-month prepaid plan. All customers pay the same price for the basic plan, and discounts are available to qualified users. The customer can now configure multiple basic plans and offers for each subscription. This model enables the developer to sell their membership in various ways, reducing operating costs by removing the need to create and manage many SKUs(Stock keeping units).
