Insurance premium payment: Axis Max Life, Bajaj Life and others
If you're searching for how to pay a Max Life or Bajaj Allianz premium, the first thing to know is that both insurers have new names. Max Life Insurance became Axis Max Life Insurance, and Bajaj Allianz Life became Bajaj Life Insurance after Allianz sold its stake in October 2025. Your policy, cover and policy number stay the same. You just need to look for the new name in your payment app. This page lists the renamed insurers, shows how to pay a premium on Subspace through Bharat BillPay, and explains the grace period you get after a missed due date. It also covers the other ways insurers accept premiums, including auto-debit.

Renamed insurers: what to search for
Renaming doesn't change your policy. Premiums, cover, nominees and policy numbers carry over. What changes is the name on receipts, emails and biller lists, so search for the new name when you pay.
| Old name | New name | When |
|---|---|---|
| Max Life Insurance Company Ltd | Axis Max Life Insurance Ltd | Rebranded December 2024; NSE recorded the change from 28 Feb 2025 |
| Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Company Ltd | Bajaj Life Insurance Ltd | 7 October 2025, after Bajaj Finserv bought Allianz’s 26% stake |
| Bajaj Allianz General Insurance | Bajaj General Insurance | 7 October 2025 |
Pay your premium on Subspace
Insurers listed on Bharat BillPay can be paid on Subspace. The app fetches the premium due against your policy number, so you don’t need to type the amount.
- 1Open the Subspace app and choose Bill payments, then Insurance.
- 2Search for your insurer by its current name, such as Axis Max Life or Bajaj Life.
- 3Enter your policy number and, if asked, your date of birth or registered mobile number.
- 4Check the policyholder name, premium amount and due date.
- 5Pay by UPI, card or net banking, and keep the BBPS reference number. Your insurer issues the premium receipt.
Grace period: how long you have after the due date
If you miss a due date, your policy doesn't lapse immediately. Life policies usually give a grace period of 15 days for monthly premiums and 30 days for quarterly, half-yearly or yearly premiums. IRDAI's 2024 health insurance rules set the same 15 and 30 days for health policies paid in instalments, and require cover to continue during that window.
Pay within the grace period and the policy continues as normal. Miss it and the policy can lapse; reviving it later usually means paying arrears, possibly with interest, and sometimes a medical check. Your policy document states the exact grace period and revival terms, so check it if you're close to the deadline.
Standard grace periods for life policies and for health policies paid in instalments. Your policy document is the final word.

Other ways to pay, and keeping receipts
Insurers also accept premiums on their own websites and apps, usually by logging in with your policy number or registered mobile. Most offer auto-debit, through NACH, e-mandate or a card standing instruction, which is the surest way not to miss a date.
Whichever route you use, download the premium receipt from your insurer. If you claim tax deductions on premiums, check which deductions apply under the tax regime you've chosen; the old and new regimes treat insurance premiums differently. Paying several policies? Keep them in one app with your loan EMIs and card bills, so due dates don't slip.
