How to get Xbox Game Pass cheaper in India

"Xbox Game Pass free" pulls up endless code lists, and none of them will add a day to your subscription. Game Pass codes are single-use 25-character keys, so a public one is already spent. What you can control is which tier you pay for and how you pay. Microsoft cut India prices in April 2026: Game Pass Ultimate dropped to ₹1,089 a month and PC Game Pass to ₹879. Premium costs ₹699 and Essential ₹499. On top of that, Subspace sells Game Pass gift cards below face value, about 6.5% off at the time of writing. Here is how the options stack up.

Game Pass Ultimate: ₹1,089/mo
PC Game Pass: ₹879/mo
Voucher discount: about 6.5%

Where real Game Pass codes come from

A genuine Game Pass code is a prepaid key. You get one by buying a Game Pass gift card from a retailer, by receiving one as a gift, or through a promotion that bundles a trial with a controller, console or PC. Each key is redeemed once against one Microsoft account.

That is why "free Xbox Game Pass code" videos and generator sites fail. If a code was real, someone redeemed it before you. Many of these sites ask you to sign in with your Microsoft account or finish "human verification" surveys, which hand your details to strangers. Microsoft never asks for your password outside microsoft.com or the Xbox app.

What each Game Pass tier costs per month

Microsoft renamed the tiers in October 2025: Core became Essential and Standard became Premium. Pick the smallest tier that covers how you actually play. A PC-only player has no reason to pay for Ultimate. A console player who mostly plays online with friends may only need Essential. Buying a voucher on Subspace trims each price a little further.

You pay less than the face value and redeem the code on your own Microsoft account, so there is no shared login. Prepaid cards also suit anyone who doesn't want a recurring mandate on a card.

1Open the [Game Pass Ultimate voucher page](/products/ms-xbox-game-pass-ultimate) on Subspace and pick a denomination.
2Pay in the Subspace app. The code is delivered to you after payment.
3Redeem it at redeem.microsoft.com, in the Microsoft Store, or on your console under Store → Redeem.
4Check the new expiry date under Subscriptions in your Microsoft account.

Playing on Xbox without paying for Game Pass

Some play costs nothing. Free-to-play games on Xbox consoles, such as Fortnite and other battle-royale titles, don't need a Game Pass subscription for online multiplayer. Games you buy outright stay yours whether or not you subscribe. Game Pass makes sense when you play several new games a year; if you play one game for months, buying it can cost less than a year of Ultimate.
