BSNL postpaid plans compared: data, rollover and family SIMs

BSNL lists five postpaid plans on its website, from ₹199 to ₹999 a month. All include unlimited calls and 100 SMS a day. They differ in data, how much unused data rolls over, and how many family SIMs share the bill. The headline price is misleading on the family plans: the ₹999 plan covers four connections, so it costs less per person than the single-SIM ₹399 plan. This page lays out every plan from BSNL's official page, works out the cost per connection, explains rollover and charges beyond your data, and shows how to pay a BSNL postpaid bill on Subspace. Prices can differ by circle, so confirm yours before switching.

All five plans include unlimited voice calls, including on national roaming, and 100 SMS a day on the main connection. Unused data rolls over up to three times the plan's monthly allowance. The family plans add SIMs that get their own data and calling, billed on the main account.

Cost per connection: why family plans look expensive but aren’t

Divide each plan's monthly charge by the number of SIMs it covers and the order changes. The ₹999 plan works out to about ₹250 a connection, with 75 GB for each person. That is cheaper per head than the single-SIM ₹399 plan. The ₹525 plan suits a couple where one person uses far less data, because its add-on SIM gets 30 GB and 20 SMS a day.

For one light user, the ₹199 plan with 25 GB is enough. A single heavy user is better off on ₹399, whose 70 GB rolls over up to 210 GB, so a quiet month builds a buffer for a busy one.

Rollover, extra data and the fine print

Data you don't use carries forward, up to the rollover cap in the table. Once your allowance and rollover are used up, BSNL charges 1 paisa per MB, which is about ₹10 per GB. That is cheap per GB, but a large download can still add a visible amount to the bill, so check usage in the BSNL app if you stream a lot.

BSNL's plan page doesn't list security deposits or activation charges. Ask about both at a BSNL customer service centre or retailer when you switch from prepaid. Plans are listed nationally, but BSNL prices some services by circle, so confirm the plan in your circle before you port or convert.
