Delhi Jal Board water bill: find your KNO, download the bill and pay
Every Delhi Jal Board (DJB) water connection has a KNO, a 10-digit K number printed on the bill. It is all you need to look up, download or pay a DJB bill. To download the latest bill, DJB’s portal asks for the KNO and your registered mobile number, then sends an OTP; the result shows the bill image, your outstanding balance and past payments. You can pay on DJB’s portal, through Bharat BillPay apps, by NEFT/RTGS to a DJB virtual account, or in cash at a zonal collection centre. You can also pay your DJB bill on Subspace, which is a Bharat BillPay app and not part of DJB. Below are the steps for each, the NEFT account formats and DJB’s domestic tariff.

Finding your KNO
The KNO is printed on your DJB bill. If you don’t have a bill, use Know Your KNO on DJB’s portal (djb.gov.in/DJBRMSPortal): enter your mobile number and verify the OTP, or search by address using your zone and location. Some bank transfers need a 13-character form of the KNO, “DJB” followed by the 10 digits, with no spaces or brackets. If your mobile number isn’t linked to the connection, the portal has an Update Mobile Number option; do this first, because bill downloads need an OTP on that number.
How to download your DJB bill
DJB calls this option View/Print Latest Bill. Cancelled bills don’t appear in the bill history it shows.
- 1Open djb.gov.in/DJBRMSPortal and choose View/Print Latest Bill.
- 2Enter your 10-digit KNO and your registered mobile number.
- 3Tap Fetch OTP and enter the OTP sent to that number.
- 4See the bill date, current bill amount, net amount payable and due date, with a link to the bill image.
- 5Open the bill image to download or print it. The same screen lists recent payments with their receipts.
Ways to pay a DJB water bill
DJB publishes these payment options. When paying by NEFT or RTGS, the account number is built from your KNO, so the payment is posted to your connection automatically.

Pay your DJB bill on Subspace
DJB lists Bharat BillPay as an official payment channel, and Subspace is a Bharat BillPay app. The bill amount is fetched from DJB using your KNO, and the payment is posted through BBPS. Subspace is not affiliated with DJB; meter readings, disputes and connections stay with DJB.
- 1Open Subspace and go to Bills, then Water.
- 2Choose Delhi Jal Board.
- 3Enter your 10-digit KNO.
- 4Check the name and amount due, then pay by UPI, card or net banking.
- 5Keep the BBPS reference from the receipt. You can check the payment later in View/Print Latest Bill on DJB’s portal.
DJB domestic water tariff
The tariff linked on DJB’s portal is the notification of 25 January 2018, effective from 1 February 2018. For domestic connections, each consumption band has a fixed service charge and a volumetric charge per kilolitre (KL), and a sewer maintenance charge of 60% of the water volumetric charge is added. The same notice says domestic consumers continue to get the 20 KL free water scheme; your bill shows whether it applied to your connection. Rates may have changed since, so check the charges printed on your bill.
