West Bengal electricity bill: pay WBSEDCL on Subspace
Outside Kolkata's CESC area and a few private licensee pockets, West Bengal's electricity comes from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (WBSEDCL). Most homes get a quarterly bill, one every three months, identified by a 9-digit consumer ID; viewing the bill online also needs your installation number. WBSEDCL lets you view the bill, download a receipt for any successful payment, and pay online, and its bills can be paid through Bharat Connect (BBPS) apps such as Subspace. Download a WBSEDCL payment receipt
WBSEDCL’s FAQ says a duplicate receipt for any successful payment can be downloaded at any time. The quick menu on wbsedcl.in has a Download Payment Receipt link:
- 1On wbsedcl.in, click Download Payment Receipt. It opens the Online Payment History page.
- 2Set Select Type to Consumer Id (use Application No only for new-connection quotation payments).
- 3Enter your 9-digit consumer ID and leave Receipt Type as Payment Receipt.
- 4Fill in the captcha and click Proceed, then download the receipt.
View your WBSEDCL bill
Use View Bill / Prepaid Statement → View Bill (Postpaid Consumers) on wbsedcl.in. Enter the consumer ID, your installation number (both on the bill) and the captcha, then click Verify. Prepaid consumers choose View Monthly Statement instead. Logging in as a consumer adds payment history and arrears.
On your phone, WBSEDCL's official app is Vidyut Sahayogi, published by the company, which shows and downloads bills as PDFs and takes payments. (The Download App button on the home page links to Bidyut Prahari, a theft-reporting app, so search for Vidyut Sahayogi by name.)
WBSEDCL warns that it never calls or messages asking you to call someone about disconnection. Genuine SMS come only from sender IDs ending in -WBSEDCL-P, -WBSEDCL-S or -WBSEDCL-T.
The quarterly tariff and what a bill costs
WBSEDCL bills domestic and commercial connections below 50 kVA every quarter, and the slabs are set per quarter. The regulator WBERC has not issued a 2026-27 order, so the 2025-26 rates continue. Urban homes pay slightly more than rural ones in the lower slabs, and a fixed charge of ₹30 per kVA per month applies. Monthly fuel adjustment and electricity duty are added.
Pay by the due date for a 1% rebate, and pay online for another 1%; paying late loses both. Under the Hasir Alo scheme, lifeline consumers with a load up to 0.3 kW who use up to 75 units a quarter pay nothing. For 2025-26 the state also subsidised domestic consumers using up to 300 units a month; check your bill for any subsidy applied now.

Paying a WB electricity bill
WBSEDCL takes payments on its portal (Online Payment), in the Vidyut Sahayogi app, at cash counters, and through Bharat Connect apps. On Subspace, search for WBSEDCL in the electricity list, enter the 9-digit consumer ID, check the name and amount, and pay by UPI. The payment is posted to WBSEDCL through Bharat Connect, and you can download the official receipt from WBSEDCL's site afterwards using the steps above.
