Times Prime and Times Prime Lite: what each membership gives

Times Prime is a yearly membership from Times Internet that bundles subscriptions and brand offers. The full membership costs ₹1,299 a year, and its current bundle includes six months of JioHotstar Super, three months of Zepto Pass, three months of EazyDiner Prime and six months of Google One. Times Prime Lite is a cut-down variant with fewer subscriptions, such as TOI+ and Gaana Plus, plus brand offers on Myntra, PharmEasy and Chaayos. Times Prime says plans start from ₹349, but it doesn't publish the Lite price on its site. Here is how the two compare and how to work out whether either membership pays for itself.

Times Prime vs Times Prime Lite

Both are annual memberships managed in the Times Prime app. The full membership is about the bundled subscriptions; Lite is about a smaller set of subscriptions and brand offers at a lower price.

What the full membership claims to be worth

Times Prime puts the four headline subscriptions at ₹3,321 combined, against a ₹1,299 fee. The figures line up with official prices: the JioHotstar figure is half the yearly Super price of ₹1,099, and the Google One figure equals six months of the 100 GB plan at ₹130 a month. The catch is that this value only counts if you would have paid for those services anyway.

Times Prime Lite: what we know

Times Prime describes Lite as a variant that gives "access to limited subscriptions and offers on leading brands across entertainment, fitness, shopping, healthcare" and more, naming complimentary TOI+ and Gaana Plus subscriptions and offers on Myntra, PharmEasy and Chaayos. It doesn't list a Lite price on its site. Its FAQ says plans start from ₹349, which may refer to Lite or another variant, so confirm at checkout.

Times Prime is also sold in partner editions through some bank and telecom offers, with different benefits. If you got a membership through a card or recharge, check which edition it is in the app.

Working out whether Times Prime pays for itself

Work it out with the services you would buy anyway, not the full list. For example, the six months of JioHotstar Super and six months of Google One together are valued at slightly more than the membership fee, so if you would pay for both anyway, everything else is a bonus. If you would use neither, the membership has to earn its keep through the brand offers alone, which is a harder case to make.

  1. 1List the bundled subscriptions you would genuinely pay for this year, such as JioHotstar or Google One storage.
  2. 2Add up their official prices for the same length; for JioHotstar, use our JioHotstar price page.
  3. 3Ignore brand discounts you are unlikely to use.
  4. 4If the total beats the membership fee, it pays for itself. If only one service matters, buy that directly or split it in a group.

Times Prime on Subspace

Subspace lists Times Prime, but no public groups are active right now; you can start one from the app, and Times Prime's own terms apply. Often the cheaper route is to split just the subscription you care about: JioHotstar and Google One both have active groups. Times Prime's partner list includes Myntra, and Subspace sells discounted Myntra gift cards too.
