How to cancel your JioHotstar subscription and stop auto-renew
JioHotstar, the service that replaced Disney+ Hotstar, doesn't have a big red cancel button on the home screen. What you actually do is cancel auto-renewal: your plan keeps running until its end date and then stops. The steps differ for plans bought directly from JioHotstar (card, net banking, UPI, Paytm), plans billed through Google Play or Apple, and plans that came free with a Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL recharge. Below are the exact steps from JioHotstar's own help centre, what happens to your access and money after cancelling, and one thing many people miss: if you joined before the January 2026 price change, cancelling can mean losing your older, lower renewal price.

Cancel auto-renewal in the JioHotstar app or website
Use this if you paid JioHotstar directly with net banking, a credit or debit card, Paytm or UPI. Log in with the mobile number or account that holds the plan.
- 1Open JioHotstar and tap **My Space**.
- 2Tap **Help & Settings**, then **Account Settings**. On a browser this screen is called **Subscription and Devices**.
- 3Tap **Cancel**. A pop-up shows how long your current plan is valid for.
- 4Tap **Cancel Auto renewal** to confirm.
Paid through Google Play, Apple or a recharge
Google Play: JioHotstar can't cancel Play subscriptions from inside its app. Open the Google Play Store app, tap your profile icon, tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions, select JioHotstar and tap Cancel subscription. JioHotstar can't help with Play billing, so refund requests go to Google.
Apple: open iPhone Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel JioHotstar there.
Partner plans that came with a Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL recharge, or a Flipkart coupon, expire at the end of their period on their own. You don't need to cancel them; for billing questions, contact the operator.

What happens after you cancel
Cancelling mid-cycle doesn't cut you off. JioHotstar says you keep access until the end of your subscription period and won't be charged again. Allow up to 24 hours for the cancellation to process. JioHotstar does not refund or credit partly used billing periods, so cancelling a day after renewal still gives you the rest of that month or year, not your money back.
If the Cancel button is missing, your plan is already cancelled; the same screen shows the renewal or expiry date.
Legacy pricing: the current prices apply to new subscribers from 28 January 2026. Existing subscribers keep their older price only while auto-renew stays on. If you cancel and come back later, you pay today's price.
Revoke the UPI mandate after cancelling
Many JioHotstar plans run on UPI AutoPay. After you cancel auto-renewal, open the UPI app you approved the payment in, go to its AutoPay or Mandates section, choose JioHotstar and revoke the mandate with your UPI PIN. Your bank or UPI app has to notify you at least 24 hours before any recurring debit, which gives you a window to opt out if something slips through. Pausing a mandate only stops it temporarily; revoking ends it.
Downgrade or share before you cancel
If price is the only problem, cancelling may not be the cheapest fix. A year of Premium paid monthly costs far more than the annual plan, and Super or Mobile may cover how you actually watch. Premium streams on up to 4 devices at a time, so splitting it inside a group brings each share down sharply. On Subspace you can join a JioHotstar group and pay your share rather than a solo plan.

How do I cancel my Hotstar subscription?
In JioHotstar, go to My Space > Help & Settings > Account Settings (Subscription and Devices on a browser), tap Cancel and then Cancel Auto renewal. If Google Play or Apple bills you, cancel in that store instead.
Will I get a refund if I cancel JioHotstar?
No. JioHotstar does not refund or credit partly used billing periods. You keep access until the plan’s end date. For Google Play purchases, refund requests go to Google.
Do I need to cancel a JioHotstar plan that came with my Jio or Airtel recharge?
