SonyLIV movies, web series and TV shows, and the plan each needs

Think of SonyLIV as four libraries under one login:

• TV shows from Sony channels. Sony Entertainment Television and Sony SAB serials, including TMKOC, land on SonyLIV after their broadcast. SonyLIV says these episodes can be watched free with ads 24 hours after they air; a subscription removes the wait.
• LIV original series. SonyLIV's own web series, mostly Hindi, span crime, drama, comedy and biopics. New seasons usually drop all episodes at once or weekly, as announced in the app.
• Films. Hindi films plus regional titles, and dubbed versions where SonyLIV holds the rights. Search by language to see the current list; film rights rotate in and out.
• Live sports. Tournaments change by season, so check the Sports tab for what is streaming this month.

Every plan includes five profiles, offline downloads, live sports and the SET and SAB shows. Mobile Only works only in the Android and iOS apps, on one screen at up to 720p with stereo sound. LIV Premium opens TVs, laptops and the web, and goes up to 4K with Dolby Atmos where the title supports it. The annual Premium plan allows two screens at once; the monthly plan allows one.

Paid monthly, LIV Premium is expensive at ₹399. The annual plan brings it to about ₹125 a month, and Mobile Only to about ₹58 if you only watch on your phone. Two cheaper routes exist. SonyLIV gift vouchers on Subspace were selling at about 39% below face value at the time of writing, which takes a ₹1,499 voucher to about ₹909. Sharing the annual plan's two screens through a SonyLIV group halves the cost per person.

LIV Premium is sold as ad-free, but SonyLIV's own plan page lists exceptions: sports, LIV Exclusives, reality shows (live and recorded), fiction shows and interactive features can still carry ads. Daily serials such as TMKOC fall under fiction shows. If you mainly watch Sony SAB comedies, Premium buys you the TV and 4K, not an ad-free serial. If you mainly watch films and LIV originals, Premium does remove most ads.

SonyLIV announces new originals and film premieres in the app's home rows and on its official social accounts, usually a week or two ahead. For a cleaner list, JustWatch's India site lets you filter by SonyLIV and sort by date added, and the popular grid on this page refreshes hourly from the same data. Set your language preferences in the SonyLIV app so regional films show up on your home screen instead of being buried in search. For the cheapest way to subscribe, see SonyLIV promo codes and offers.
