Gujarat electricity bill payment, company by company

There is no single Gujarat electricity board any more. Bills come from one of four state-owned companies under Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL), each covering a region, or from Torrent Power in parts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat. Which one you need depends on where you live: a Vadodara electricity bill comes from MGVCL, a Surat suburb from DGVCL, Rajkot from PGVCL and Mehsana from UGVCL. All four GUVNL companies use an 11-digit consumer number and share one quick-pay portal. This page maps each company to its area, explains the residential tariff they all use, and shows how to pay any of them on Subspace through Bharat Connect.

Which company sends your bill

Look at the logo and name at the top of your bill: it tells you the company. If you're moving into a new home and don't have a bill yet, the region is a reliable guide. The four GUVNL companies split the state as below; Torrent Power, a private licensee, supplies parts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat and the Dahej SEZ, and has its own billing and payment system.

Vadodara city and the rest of central Gujarat fall under Madhya Gujarat Vij Company (MGVCL), headquartered in Vadodara. Its customer care is 1800-233-2670 or 19124, and it answers on WhatsApp at 91840 12564 (send “Hi”).

One tariff across the four GUVNL companies

GERC issues a separate order for each GUVNL company, but the residential (RGP) rates are identical, so the same consumption costs the same in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot or Mehsana. The real split is urban versus rural: village connections billed under RGP Rural pay 30–40 paise less per unit in each slab. Fixed charges are the same for both and depend on connected load.

Two add-ons apply everywhere: the FPPAS fuel adjustment, currently ₹2.45 per unit plus 3.99%, revised by GUVNL each quarter, and electricity duty. Torrent Power's areas have their own tariff.

Paying a GUVNL bill online

All four GUVNL companies take payments on the shared portal at mpay.guvnl.in: choose your company, enter the 11-digit consumer number and pay by card, UPI, net banking or wallet. The companies publish processing fees for each method; on DGVCL's list, UPI and debit cards are free for bills up to ₹2,000 and cost 0.85% plus GST above that.

On Subspace, open Electricity, search for your company (Dakshin, Madhya, Paschim or Uttar Gujarat Vij), enter the consumer number and pay by UPI. The bill is fetched from the company through Bharat Connect, and the payment is posted back to it. Your consumer number stays saved, which helps if you pay for more than one home, such as your own flat in Vadodara and your parents' house in Rajkot.

Checking a bill or payment on the company portal

Each company has its own bill tools. DGVCL lists View Bill History, View Payment History and Last Bill Payment Receipt under Online Payment on dgvcl.com. UGVCL has View / Print Bill and Latest Payment Status on ugvcl.com. MGVCL and UGVCL also link e-Vidhyut Seva (portal.guvnl.in), GUVNL's login-based service portal for bill history, complaints, name changes and new connections. All of them work with the 11-digit consumer number. For step-by-step detail, see the DGVCL and UGVCL pages.

Frequently asked questions

How do I pay my Vadodara electricity bill?

Vadodara is served by MGVCL. Pay on the GUVNL quick-pay portal by selecting MGVCL, or through a Bharat Connect app such as Subspace, using the 11-digit consumer number on your bill.

Which company supplies electricity in my part of Gujarat?

DGVCL covers south Gujarat, MGVCL central Gujarat, PGVCL Saurashtra and Kutch, and UGVCL north Gujarat. Torrent Power supplies parts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Surat. The company name is printed on your bill.

Do all Gujarat electricity companies use the same consumer number format?

The four GUVNL companies use an 11-digit consumer number for LT connections such as homes and shops. Torrent Power uses its own numbering.

Is the residential tariff the same across DGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL and UGVCL?

Yes. GERC sets one tariff for the four GUVNL companies, so the same consumption costs the same in Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot or Mehsana.

Can I pay a Torrent Power bill on the GUVNL portal?

No. Torrent Power is a separate private licensee with its own payment channels. The GUVNL portal covers only DGVCL, MGVCL, PGVCL and UGVCL.

What is the power complaint number in Gujarat?

Each company has its own line: DGVCL 1800-233-3003, MGVCL 19124, PGVCL 19122 and UGVCL 19121. The national power helpline is 1912.
