How to redeem a YouTube Premium code, gift card or offer
"YouTube Premium redeem code" covers three different things, and mixing them up is why so many redemptions fail. A gift card or gift code adds money to your Google Play balance, which you then spend on Premium. A trial or partner offer (from YouTube itself, or bundled with a phone or another service) unlocks Premium for a set period if you're eligible. And Premium Offers are perks for people who already pay. All legitimate codes are redeemed on your own Google account at youtube.com/redeem or from your paid memberships page. Below are YouTube's official steps, the eligibility rules that block most trial codes, and why "free YouTube Premium code" posts don't work.

Three kinds of YouTube Premium codes
Work out which one you have before you start. A gift card has a printed code and usually a URL. A partner offer usually arrives as a link, an in-app banner or instructions from the partner. A Premium Offer appears inside your YouTube account if you already subscribe.

Redeem a YouTube gift card or code
These are YouTube's steps. The Google account's country must match the country where the card was sold.
- 1Sign in to the Google account you want to use.
- 2Go to youtube.com/redeem, or the URL printed on your card.
- 3Enter the code from your card and click **Next**. The amount is added to your Google Play balance.
- 4To use it now, choose what to buy (for example YouTube Premium) and select **Google Play balance** as the payment method.
- 5Click **Buy** to finish.
Already a member? Point your plan at the balance
If you already pay for Premium, redeeming a card doesn't automatically change how you're billed. Add the balance first, then go to payments.google.com, select Manage on your YouTube membership, choose Change payment method, pick your Google Play balance and click Save. Future renewals draw from the balance until it runs out, after which you'll need another payment method.
Trial and offer eligibility
Most "my code doesn't work" problems are eligibility, not typos. YouTube's introductory trials are for first-time members, or people who cancelled Premium, Music Premium or Premium Lite at least 6 months ago, and you get one introductory trial per 12 months. Extended trials are for first-time members or those who cancelled 3 years ago. YouTube also allows one trial per payment method. Some offers aren't available in every country, and some can only be redeemed from a computer browser. If an offer won't apply, check you're signed in to the account that's eligible.
Why “free YouTube Premium codes” don’t work
Codes posted on coupon and video sites are usually used already, tied to a different country, or made up. YouTube shows a "not valid in your country/region" error when the card's country doesn't match your account. Code generators and "redeem code free" lists are scams that collect logins or push app installs. Genuine ways to pay less are on the official price list: a trial if you qualify, Student at ₹89, Lite at ₹89, prepaid plans that never auto-renew, or sharing a Family plan through a YouTube Premium group on Subspace.

How do I redeem a YouTube Premium code?
Sign in to your Google account, go to youtube.com/redeem (or the URL on the card), enter the code and click Next. Then buy YouTube Premium using Google Play balance as the payment method.
Is there a free YouTube Premium redeem code?
Not from coupon sites. Legitimate no-cost access comes only from YouTube’s own trials or partner promotions for eligible accounts. Lists of free codes are expired, region-locked or scams.
Why does my YouTube Premium coupon not redeem?
Common reasons: the card is from another country, the code was already used, you’re signed in to the wrong account, or a trial offer doesn’t match your eligibility (first-time member or cancelled 6+ months ago, one per payment method).
Can I use a gift card if I already have YouTube Premium?
